Assists with Active Shooter Training

On Monday, the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office conducted an active shooter training session at Colbert Heights High School in preparation for the upcoming school year. This exercise was particularly significant as it integrated the school’s new safety platform, nSide, which provides comprehensive security features including 360-degree views of every room, camera installations, and door access controls.

The training brought together emergency personnel from across Colbert County, including the sheriff's department, Helen Keller EMS, local fire departments, and the Colbert County Coroner's office. Sheriff Eric Balentine organized the drill, which featured scenarios such as a hostage situation and a mass casualty event, to challenge responders and improve their crisis management skills. A debriefing followed to identify strengths and areas for improvement. The nSide platform was highlighted as a key strength, playing a crucial role in enhancing response strategies and demonstrating its value in real-time emergency situations.
